From Hatch to Socorro - 24 August 2003
After Hatch I listened to Bach and finally arrived in Socorro about 4:40. I went to a local place
for some sopapillas for dinner and then tried a few beers at the Socorro Springs Brewing Company.
Some of them were very tasty.
Socorro is also home to the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. They have classes
on Explosives but their web page with that heading had no information about the classes. Interesting.
Bosque Wildlife Refuge- 25 August 2003
I left the hotel early on Monday morning and headed out to the Bosque Wildlife refuge. I entered the park listening to one of my favorite Vivaldi pieces, the Double Concerti in G Minor, RV 531. The Wildlife Refuge was nice but there are better times of the year to go and see the birds. I also think you need to spend a day or two there just sitting or standing not just driving around the tour loops. I did see a fox but my attempt to take a picture was seriously hindered by having left the lens cap on. When I realized that and took it off the fox was on the move. I don't think it appreciated my company.
