White Sands Missile Range - 24 August 2003
Farther on is the White Sands Missile Range. Somewhere in this area is where the Trinity tests took place. You can actually go on a tour to the test site twice a year, April and October I think. There's not a large museum there but they have quite a few old missiles outside the museum.
From White Sands Missile Range to Hatch- 24 August 2003
After leaving White Sands Missile Range coming down through Organ and Las Cruces I saw Atomic Auto
Wrecking and Atomic Towing. Pretty entertaining. Continuing on through Las Cruces listening to Us3.
I stopped in Hatch on the way to Socorro. Hatch is right next to Rio Grande river. Rio Grande
is between the highway and Hatch. There's not much in Hatch although there were at least 3 or 4
places selling chiles. The chile pepper harvest just started a couple of weeks ago. I stopped at
the Hatch Chile Express which was selling ten pounds of roasted, peeled and frozen chiles but I
wasn't sure I could carry ten pounds of frozen chiles on the plane. It is, however, much more
expensive if shipped.
