Lincoln & Billy the Kid

Lincoln - 23 August 2003

I visited a number of museums in Lincoln, which are all related to Billy the Kid and what happened in Lincoln. It is a very small town. There is really one main museum which has a number of exhibits, explanations about Billy the Kid and Lincoln. This main museum also has a small gift store and, when I was there, a small dog that preferred to be in the store/museum proper and not off in a side room behind a door. The other museums are basically rebuilt buildings from that period in Lincoln history. I didn't really know that much about Billy the Kid before this trip and his history is a mix of more and less than what I really thought. I spent the night of the 23rd in Lincoln at a Bed and Breakfast place called the Ellis Store & Co. Country Inn. It's a nice and very quiet place. It has no TV, no air conditioning, and really bad cell phone reception. If you make reservations in advance you can eat a gourmet dinner there also. Breakfast is included with your room and that was good too. I asked about a key or keys for the doors to my room but they said they didn't have any because most of the town residents were over 60 and they hadn't had a robbery for a very long time.I saw (and heard) a woodpecker on a tree outside my room in Lincoln. I haven't seen many woodpeckers where I live.
